Biography

Born in Dublin, Ireland, and raised in Ottawa, Canada Caroline Pignat now lives in Kanata, Ontario with her family. Her articles and fiction have appeared in numerous magazines, including Highlights for Children, Clubhouse and Clubhouse Jr., Storyteller, Guideposts, Guideposts for Kids, Living Faith for Kids, Capital Parent, The Word Among Us, and Focus on the Family publications as well as local and national newspapers. Her family activities booklets, titled A Circle of Love (November 2006), and In the Presence of the Lord (November 2007) are published by Creative Communications. She does freelance editorial work and has published articles in Novalis’ When a Couple Marries and Chicken Soup for the Bride’s Soul.

 

Caroline is the author of the young adult novel EGGHEAD (Red Deer Press, January 2008) and the historical fiction GREENER GRASS (Red Deer Press, October 2008). Currently, she is writing its sequel WILD GEESE. Caroline received Canada Council for the Arts Writing Grants for GREENER GRASS  and WILD GEESE.

Trivia

  • She started writing her first book in grade four on her typewriter, but never got past the cast of characters page. Making up names was too hard.
  • She owned a rabbit named Bigwig, but believes her grampa ate it after she moved back to Canada.
  • She married her junior high sweetheart.
  • Her favourite colour is blue.
  • Her favourite food comes from a restaurant and not a grocery store.
  • She is a compulsive email checker, yet, never returns phone calls.
  • She is afraid of the dark.
  • She has every diary since grade four. Her husband still gets in trouble for things he did in grade 9.
  • Before becoming an author, she worked as an elementary teacher, a book seller, a grocery store cashier, a medical transcriptionist, and Santa’s elf (yes, the real Santa). She also worked as a bank teller for six years and was only robbed at gunpoint three times.
