Caroline Pignat is the award-winning author of four young adult novels. Her first novel, EGGHEAD is a 2009 Red Maple Honour Book shortlisted for the 2009 CLA Book of the Year. Recommended as a bullying awareness resource by Kids Help Phone and Barbara Coloroso, EGGHEAD continues to be a popular novel study in schools across Canada.
Her second novel GREENER GRASS and its sequel WILD GEESE received research grants from the Canada Council for the Arts. GREENER GRASS won the Governor General’s Award in 2009 and is shortlisted for several awards including the 2010 Red Maple Award, 2009 CLA Book of the Year, and 2009 Geoffrey Bilson Award. TIMBER WOLF, the third in the series, comes out in October 2011.
Caroline’s articles, poetry and fiction appear in numerous magazines, including Highlights for Children, Clubhouse, Chicken Soup for the Soul, local and national newspapers. Caroline is a regular contributor to Living Faith Kids.
Born in Dublin, Ireland and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Caroline Pignat calls both home. She currently lives in Ottawa with her husband, Tony, and their two children. After graduating from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Religious Studies, Caroline worked with children for over fifteen years in roles such as teacher, seminar facilitator, mentor, and coach. She currently teaches high school in the mornings and dedicates her afternoons to author visits, researching, and writing.
Given her teaching experience and her comfort in front of a class, Caroline is a confident presenter. Her passion for writing, her interactive style, and her sense of humour engage her audiences. She aims to inform and inspire. Students leave her presentations excited about her writing, but even more excited about their own.
